You don’t have to
do it alone.

Even in the best of circumstances, parents can often feel overwhelmed. Single parents and parents who are going through a separation have so many more challenges to deal with. Not only are there the everyday problems of discipline and meeting your children’s needs — there are the challenges of helping the children weather the change and of getting your own life in order without shortchanging your children. There may also be guilt as well as outside criticism and confusing amounts of advice. Of course, there are also the complex issues that arise when dealing with the details of getting a divorce. The Singular Parent offers support for parents who are struggling with all these challenges in the form of coaching and mediation. In both coaching and mediation, I take emotional issues into account and focus them into a plan of action.

Coaching is a way for parents get help with parenting issues, including discipline issues or balancing personal life with parenting. See the coaching page for more information.

Mediation is a way to address family conflicts such as parental disagreement about discipline, or parents and teens in conflict.

Divorce Mediation is an alternative to the adversarial system. A mediated divorce is usually less stressful for both children and parents, and far less expensive than a litigated divorce. For more information about mediation, visit the mediation page.

Miriam Jochnowitz has an MA in developmental psychology and is a
certified divorce mediator.
